What maintenance do I need to do to my new Bike?Updated 8 months ago

Generic service intervals -If you don't ride very often, you can probably get away with servicing your bike once every 6 months. But no matter how often you ride, it's important to give your bike a thorough inspection at least once a year to ensure it is safe for the road or trails.

First service - The bike's first service is very important to ensure that the bike is still safe to ride. All bolts should be checked to ensure they are torqued accordingly. New gear cables and brake cables (if applicable) can also stretch in your first few weeks of riding making either your gear shifting or braking not as smooth as it should be. This needs to be re-set to take into account the stretch.

Tyre pressures - If you use your bike every day, it's ok to check the tyre pressure about every two weeks. If you're a sporty rider, it doesn't hurt to check before every ride.

Bolt checks and preventative maintenance - Regular bolt checks to ensure everything is torqued accordingly can help reduce your future repair bill. Regular bearing changes can also prevent frame and post damage. This is particularly important in full suspension mountain bikes.
